Buying a passenger and/or vehicle ticket

  • On Compagnie Océane's website and mobile application Whether you are an occasional customer or regular user, you can book your pedestrian and vehicle crossings on our website or our mobile application by clicking the "book" button found on every page.
  • By telephone By contacting our information and booking centre on +33 2 9735 0200.
  • At the ferry terminals By using the ticket machines or from the staff at the ferry terminal ticket offices at Quiberon, Lorient, Belle-Ile-en-Mer, Groix island and Houat and Hoëdic islands.
  • At Tourist offices Several Tourist offices in Brittany sell Compagnie Océane tickets (visual: add a map displaying the TO points of sale) (check that the list is up-to-date):

  • Depending on the remaining places available, it is possible to buy your ticket at the ferry terminal up to 20 min before the boat's scheduled departure for pedestrian crossings and up to (…) for vehicle crossings.
  • However, booking in advance is very strongly recommended for all departures on weekends, public holidays and school holidays.
  • In particular, we recommend that you book as early as possible if you are crossing with your vehicle as the number of places is extremely limited.
  • You can consult on-board availability in real time and purchase your ticket directly on the website or mobile application up to the day before departure. Online payment is made by credit card using a secure payment system.
  • The tickets must be paid for on booking. The booking of the place on board the ships depends on ticket payment.
  • Booking and immediate ticket payment are possible on the Compagnie Océane website and mobile application, by telephone on +33 2 9735 0200 and at the ferry terminal ticket offices and machines.
  • For payment by post (by bank cheque or Holiday Voucher): pre-booking is possible by telephone. However, the booking of the places will only come into effect on receipt of the total order payment subject to the remaining places available on the day of receipt of payment. If the payment does not reach us within a period of 21 days, the booking will be cancelled and the place put back on sale. 

With a view to reducing the impact of paper consumption and making it easier to use the service, Compagnie Océane now offers its customers the use of paperless tickets.

  • If you are a "Compagnie Océane Customer" or "Pass îlien" cardholder, you do not need to print out a paper ticket: you can save your e-ticket directly on your card when making your booking. During the boarding checks, simply show your card to the personnel, along with your ID if need be.
  • If you do not have a Compagnie Océane Customer account, but you are booking on the website or mobile application, you can print your e-ticket yourself (requires high-quality printing on white A4 paper). You must present this e-ticket to the personnel during boarding checks, along with your ID and documents if need be.
  • At the ferry terminal ticket machines

Nonetheless, if you would like to receive a ticket printed by Compagnie Océane:

 

  • This is possible when booking at the ferry terminal ticket offices (printing cost: €1)
  • If you would like to receive your tickets by post: this is possible if you book on the website, mobile application or by telephone more than 8 days before your departure and if your booking does not include special-rate tickets subject to presentation of proof. Please select this request for tickets to be dispatched when making your booking, stating the delivery address. This service costs €2 + €1 printing cost (?)
  • In all other cases (booking made less than 8 days before departure or requiring the presentation of proof), your tickets can be printed at the ticket offices of your departure terminal. You will be able to collect them up to 30 minutes before your departure with your booking number and on presentation of proof for reduced rates, if required: printing cost: €1).

You can make your booking for a hire car on our website if you know the model. On the form, instead of the registration number, state: "Hire" and continue the booking.
If you do not yet know the hire car model, you must contact our customer service centre on +33 2 9735 0200.

Changing or cancelling a booking

  • It is only possible to change a passenger ticket if there are places available.
  • For an earlier departure on the same day, there is no charge for ticket changes. In other cases and up to 48 hours after departure, ticket changes are subject to a fee.
  • Tickets may not be changed more than 48 hours after departure. The company retains the entire ticket price.

Procedure:

  • In order to be taken into account, changes must be registered during the opening hours of the ferry terminal ticket offices or the customer service centre on +33 2 9735 0200 .
  • For any ticket change request, please state your reference number.

It is only possible to change a vehicle ticket if there are places available.

  • Ticket changes are subject to a fee.
  • Tickets may not be changed more than 24 hours after departure. The company retains the entire ticket price.

Caution: changes to the passenger tickets (driver) are also subject to a fee. For more information, consult article 8.1 – Conditions for changing passenger tickets in our Terms and Conditions of Transport and Sale.

Procedure:
In order to be taken into account, changes must be registered during the opening hours of the ferry terminal ticket offices or the customer service centre on +33 2 9735 0200 .
For any ticket change request, please state your reference number.

If you wish to cancel your booking:

  • Passenger ticket cancellation
    Cancelling a passenger ticket is subject to a cancellation fee.
    No refunds are given for cancelling more than 12 hours after departure. The company retains the entire ticket price.

  •  Vehicle ticket cancellation
    Cancelling a vehicle ticket is subject to a cancellation fee.
    No refunds are given for cancelling more than 12 hours after departure. The company retains the entire ticket price.

  • Subscriptions:
    Passenger and vehicle ticket changes and cancellations by subscription holders are subject to the same conditions.
    Please note that no passenger or vehicle subscriptions can be refunded.
  • Procedure:
    In order to be taken into account, changes or cancellations must be registered during the opening hours of the ferry terminal ticket offices or the customer service centre on +33 2 9735 0200 .
    For any ticket change or cancellation request, please state your reference number. 

Boarding and crossing conditions

  • Passenger crossing without vehicle
    Please arrive for boarding 30 minutes before the boat's scheduled departure time. Boarding is no longer possible less than 5 minutes before departure.
  • Passenger crossing with vehicle
    Please arrive in your vehicle for boarding 45 minutes before the boat's scheduled departure time. Boarding is no longer possible less than 5 minutes before departure.

Nota bene: if the words "car-deck" feature on your vehicle ticket, boarding is no longer possible 30 minutes before departure.

  • Personal luggage is limited to 30 kg per person; passengers many not pool their luggage allowance.
  • Bulky or large objects are not considered to be luggage and fall under the goods price scheme.
  • If you are planning on travelling with a large amount of luggage, we recommend that you choose crossing times corresponding to roll-on/roll-off ferries (Bangor and Vindilis for the connection to Belle-Ile-en-Mer; Ile-de-Groix and Saint-Tudy for the connection to Groix Island). We also provide luggage containers.

Access to the boats is facilitated by ramps and the Vindilis, Bangor, Saint-Tudy, Ile-de-Groix, Melvan and Kerdonis  roll-on/roll-off ferries and excursion boats are equipped to welcome people with reduced mobility. 
However, if you should encounter any difficulties moving around the ferry terminal, boarding or on board, please do not hesitate to ask our staff for assistance. They will be delighted to help you.

  • from Lorient to Groix Island: 50 minutes by ferry (roll-on/roll-off)
  • from Quiberon to Le Palais (Belle-Ile): 45 minutes by ferry (roll-on/roll-off)
    The excursion boat Kerdonis, which is used on certain departures on weekends and in the summer, makes the crossing in 35 minutes
  • from Quiberon to Sauzon (Belle-Ile): from 8 July to 30 August 2017, the excursion boat Kerdonis makes the crossing in 30 minutes
  • from Quiberon to Houat Island:
    Melvan makes the crossing in 40 minutes
    Kerdonis, which reinforces the fleet in the summer, makes the crossing in 30 minutes
  • from Quiberon to Hoëdic Island (via Houat):
    Melvan makes the crossing in 65 minutes
    Kerdonis makes the crossing in 60 minutes

Very small dogs and cats can travel free of charge if they are carried in a basket or their owner's arms.
